Cable Moulding.
If using the cold mould two pack epoxy method here are a few tips when using Aluminium moulds.
1,  Ensure the moulds are scrupulously clean and polished (use Brasso or similar)
2,  Apply at least 3 good coats of release wax to the mould.
3,  If possible warm the moulds up to about 34°C before pouring the moulding compound.
4,  Use a good quality primer on the cables to ensure the mix will bond correctly to the cable.
5,  We have found also that heating up the repaired joint when cured will also help you remove the moulds easier.

Underwater connector maintenance
1,   When completing a operation, as soon as is practicable possible wash the connectors in clean fresh water.
2,   Before mating the connectors use a light coating of silicone grease on the contacts. This helps facilitate docking but also helps preserve the life of the connector contact material.
3,  The connectors should not be exposed to longterm heat or sunshine.
4,  If the connectors have been exposed to heat and sunshine and have dried out soak them in fresh water before use.
5,   Any accumulation of sand or mud in the female contact should be removed by flushing with clean fresh water, failure to do so could result in splaying of the contact and damage to the O-Ring seal.
6,   If a bulkhead connector is used do not over tighten the connector, and use a little silicone grease on the O-Ring.
7,  Ensure that there are no angular loads on the bulkhead connector as this is a sure way to destroy a connector.

"O" Ring maintenance
To preserve the integrity and life of your underwater housings it is recommended that after every deployment and recovery of the housing that the "O" ring seal be flushed with clean potable water. Examine the "O" ring for signs of wear or any nicks or cuts, if any are found replace the "O" ring.
Lubrication is extremely important for o'rings in all static and dynamic applications. It should be kept in mind that the greatest benefit will be obtained , if the lubricant is used at the time of installation. Use a silicone based grease during assembly, this will help prevent damage through abrasion, pinching and cutting. An additional benefit the surface film formedby the lubricant helps prevent degredation of the elastomers.
